Bill Matthews

Deputy Chair of Redress Scotland, former BBC Trustee and former Chair of the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission.

Bill Matthews is a governance practitioner with two decades experience of non-executive roles in Media, Government, Criminal Justice, Health, Infrastructure and Regulation. Previous roles include two terms on the BBC Trust, where he also chaired the BBC Pension Scheme for seven years, and as Chair of NHS National Services Scotland - the largest special health board in Scotland. He recently completed two terms as Chair of the Scottish Criminal Review Commission, and is currently Deputy Chair of Redress Scotland, the decision-making part of Scotland's Redress scheme. He has experience in regulatory roles with the NMC and ACCA, and was previously Deputy Chair at the Security Industry Authority.

Before developing his portfolio of non-executive roles Bill, who is a Chartered Engineer, worked in the Technology sector. During his time with the semiconductor division of Motorola he ran an IP-centric business, and sat on the organisation's European Patent Committee. 

Bill holds Bachelors degrees in Engineering, Psychology, and Humanities (Creative Writing) along with a Masters in Business Administration.
