Following a Board decision at its meeting of 30 October 2019 all accreditation assessments (and their corresponding recommendation implementation plans) will be published.
2025 Review of accreditation requirements following the 2023 accreditation assessment of the Patent Examination Board. The assessors' final report on the PEB FD exams was considered by the IPReg Board at its meeting on 15 May 2025. This report identified some urgent matters that needed to be addressed to provide sufficient assurance that the 2025 examinations could take place. The PEB addressed those matters which were considered by the assessors' in a further short report.
At its meeting in July 2025, the IPReg Board confirmed that it had received sufficient assurance to accredit the FC and FD exams for delivery in October 2025.
IPReg continued to liaise with the PEB and CIPA to address remaining requirements for the exams’ (re-)accreditation for delivery from 2026.
IPReg’s Board approved the recommendation at its January 2026 meeting that sufficient assurance has been gained to re-accredit the PEB’s FC exams and to accredit the PEB’s FD exams for delivery from 2026. IPReg will continue to engage in discussions with the PEB and CIPA to address its longer-term requirements relating to the exams’ governance, quality assurance and assessment arrangements. This fits with the PEB’s commitment to continuous improvement.
2023 accreditation assessment of the Patent Examination Board. The January 2023 Board meeting approved the accreditation of the Final Diploma examinations of the patent attorney qualifications subject to provision of a satisfactory implementation plan and formal independent review of its successful completion. 2022 accreditation assessment of Queen Mary University London. The March 2022 Board meeting approved the accreditation of both the registered trade mark and patent attorney qualifications subject to provision of a satisfactory implementation plan and formal independent review of its successful completion. 2020 accreditation assessment of Brunel. The May and July 2020 Board meetings approved the accreditation of both the registered trade mark and patent attorney qualifications. Brunel accreditation implementation plan March 2020.
