The revised Rules for the Conduct for Patent Attorneys and Trade Mark Attorneys and Other Regulated Persons which came into force on 1st January 2015 can be found here:
The Code requires sole practitioner attorneys and firms to insure only with “participating insurers” who have agreed to insure against minimum insurance terms. This is necessary in the context of IPReg’s compensation scheme.
The participating insurers are:
- PAMIA Limited
- Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE
- China Re Syndicate 2088 acting through Chaucer Syndicates Limited
- Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc
We are open to other insurers signing an agreement to become a participating insurer.
The agreed Minimum Terms and Conditions are a generic version of the actual PAMIA terms (the Minimum Terms and Conditions for the indemnity year 2016-2017 remain unchanged and currently are in force).
Following the Disciplinary Case against A Patent Attorney, the Joint Disciplinary Panel issued Guidance on the use of liens. Please contact us if you wish to see a copy.
