Jonathan is a Registered Trade Mark Attorney and has been a partner at Cleveland since 1996. He has been a trade mark examiner for the Joint Examination Board’s qualifying examinations, as well as a speaker and tutor for ITMA (now CITMA). He acts for a variety of clients before the UK IP Office and OHIM, with particular experience in contentious proceedings, and he regularly provides strategic advice on the management and development of his clients’ portfolios.
Jonathan is a General Editor of the CIPA/CITMA Community Trade Mark Handbook and a contributing author to the Wolters Kluwer Concise IP volume on European Trade Mark and Design Law. He has been a regular speaker for the World Intellectual Property Organisation on the international registration of trade marks, and for the International Trademark Association on a variety of subjects.
Jonathan has an MA (Cantab) in Classics from Cambridge University and became a Fellow of ITMA (now CITMA) in 2001.
